2014 Kelly Fleming Cabernet Sauvignon

2014 Vintage:

The 2014 growing season was quite moderate overall.  Although we received very little rain during the winter, we were fortunate to get a few generous showers in early March which helped to kick-start the growing season and prime the vines for summer.  Moderate warm temperatures during summer without excessive heat allowed for slow, careful development of flavors during maturation, and a relaxed timeframe for picking.  The resulting wines are generous in fruit character, with depth and complexity.

Tasting Notes:

The 2014 Kelly Fleming Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is a brilliant expression of our unique yet classic Napa site, and offers a powerful, distinctive flavor profile. The wine is dark and brooding on the nose, exuding black plum and cherry, dried fig, and a hint of bittersweet chocolate.   The palate is creamy and intense on entry, providing a round, full sensation that is supported by dense black fruit and firm, yet fine tannins.  There’s an earthy minerality and vibrancy that adds structural support to the richness of the wine, and provides a foundation for long evolution in the bottle.   A savory complexity of dried herbs, sage and licorice adds subtle nuance and intrigue to the backdrop of dark chocolate and cassis flavors.
